Growth:  Natural shape is a verticl oval, multi-stemmed deciduous shrub.  It grows slowlywith maple-like green leaves and flat-topped clusters of white flowers late spring into summer.  In fall, the flower clusters become clusters of beautiful dark blue-black berries that feed the birds.  Before dropping, the foliage changes to mellow pink-purple-red-orange colours.
Light:  Part to full shade; tolerates morning sun.
Water:  Moderate - no extra once established.
Soil:  Comfortable in variable soils, dry to moist with good drainage.
Garden location:  Shaded woodland garden. Can be pruned to shape (after blooming), but really, zero maintenance!
