Clematis pitcheri (Purple leatherflower)
Also known as Leatherflower or Bell flower, C. pitcheri is of the viorna group of clematis. Not large-showy but continual in bloom from May to August, with delicate looking but quite leathery blooms. Fluffy seed heads decorate the vine into late fall.
Like all clematis, prefers its roots to be shaded. Benefits from support; give it something to climb.
