PLANT PROFILE:

Growth: Erect, multibranching form with square stems (mint family)
Flower: Very small, white flowers, along tall spikes that elongate at the end of each branch
Foliage: Large, smooth, tender, bright green, aromatic leaves, arranged in pairs opposite to each other on square stems. Harvest often (especially early in the morning), trimming down branches to make plant bushier/more productive for pesto and other Mediterranean dishes.
Environment: Rich, moist and well-drained soil in a warm, sunny site
Garden locations: Genovese basil is handsome and very aromatic and can be incorporated in mid-front of beds and/or grown in production gardens.
