Bloom:  Early summer through fall; blue lacecap type turns dark pink in fall

Foliage:  Decidous, sturdy, dark green; to burgundy-reds in fall

Light:  Full sun if kept moist; otherwise part shade or shade

Water:  Moderate

Soil:  Moist but well drained, acidic. Flower colour can be influenced by added lime for purple to pink

Maintenence:  After flowering, prune back to pair of two healthy buds; in early spring prune out damaged or diseased stems.

Garden site:  Accent or massed plantings; informal hedge
