Height:  Stalks 20-30 cm. (8-12 =in.); Fern 120-150 cm (4-5 ft)

Growth:  Early spring stalks emerge for delicious harvest (wait until 3rd or 4th year); late stalks should be left to become ferns and feed the underground crown and roots.  Each year the crown is more productive.  

Light:  Full sun to part shade

Water:  Regular water

Soil:  Enriched (manure best), deep garden soil

Other:  Crowns may be planted deeply (30 cm or 1 ft) to blanch stalks (spargel asparagus); cut these where they come off crown, being careful not to damage crown.
