"Akamuro" means "red icehouse" and this variety of rice is not only early (105 days to maturity from transpant), but a beautiful and and delicious rice to eat.  Akamuro is a short-grained, lowland rice, originally from Hokkaido, Japan.  It was developed to be tolerant of cold and a short growing season.  We grow our seed out every other year to keep it viable and have been growing Akamuro rice since 2018. This seed is from the 2022 harvest and, by now, can be considered a "land race" - especially adapted to our local environment.  Price is for 3 grams of seed, approximately 100 seeds.
