ABOUT US

NIKIAN Gardens began in 2002 when we moved back to Nova Scotia with a truck-load of plants sampled from our west coast gardens.  We started an organic nursery and landscaping business in Granville Beach - just west of Annapolis Royal.  Our mixed ornamental and edible gardens are well-known locally for their beauty, diversity and productivity.  We use only organic gardening methods -

NO SYNTHETIC PESTICIDES, HERBICIDES OR FERTILIZERS.

Propagating plants with cuttings and our own open-pollinated seeds has evolved to be a major part of our gardening and our business.  Always trying new plants and growing our selections, we seek to enhance the biodiversity on our 25 acre farm (10 acres are forest) and the resilience of our living environment.

Besides the joy of living in a beautiful park-like setting, we love growing and preserving nearly all of our own food and much of the materials we need in permaculture areas and sustainable, no-till beds.  It gives us a sense of self-sufficiency in the face of pandemics, climate change, the loss of biodiversity and habitat and the collapsing economic system.  We hope to help others achieve a similar security with the sale of our plants - grown locally with love!
